14th July 2020 By Admin Linda

Sports Day wasn’t quite the same this year.

Instead, the Sports Partnership set up the Virtual Sports Games.

64 schools took part.

There were 5 different sports activities – including keepy ups, throw & catch, target practice, star jumps and balancing.

Overall, Seascape came an impressive 3rd!

Well done everyone!

Fishes & Wishes Project

6th July 2020 By Admin Linda

Reception join in the Fishes and Wishes project.

East Durham Creates have set up a project along with Let’s Create Commissioning Scheme and Durham Heritage Coast.  The aim of the project is to get all the family engaged with art.

The project is called ‘Fishes and Wishes’.

At school, our Reception bubble have been getting involved with the project by making lots of small boats and also one big boat, so that they can all sit in together.  They are also hoping to sail away to see all their friends they are missing and maybe even find some treasure.

Class 9’s Vegetable Adventure

29th June 2020 By Admin Linda

Back in February, Class 9 planted some seeds with the aim of putting them into the school garden after the Easter holidays – they planted carrots, peas, broccoli and potatoes.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, the vegetables didn’t get planted in school, but Miss Bailey took them home to look after them. Every few weeks, she took pictures and emailed them to the children in Class 9, so they could see how they were growing.

Then on Sunday 28th June, the time came to dig up and pick the vegetables.

There was:

  • a bucket full of potatoes,
  • a bag full of peas (with more still growing),
  • a bunch of somewhat wonky baby carrots.

The broccoli is still growing, but there are some heads appearing, so it shouldn’t be too much longer!

Check out the pictures!

Perhaps we’ll have even more vegetables when we next plant some tiny seeds!

Fun activities for half-term

22nd May 2020 By Admin Linda

I have found some fun activities you might like to have a go at over half-term.

  1. An outdoor  scavenger hunt (image from Google)
  2. A drawing challenge (from adventure-in-a-box.com)

I have included my attempts at these activities.

If you do decided to have a go at either or both of the challenges, I’d really like to see them – you can send an email to your teacher and they will send it onto me.

Have a lovely half-term!

Miss Bailey

Each week, your teacher has been sending work home for you to complete, and also setting Maths Shed and Spelling Shed (if you use this).

However, we also wanted to make you aware of the following learning links that have been made available.

The UK Government has been working with teachers around the country to put together some lessons.

It is called The Oak Academy.

The website to access these lessons is https://www.thenational.academy/

Also, BBC bitesize have created lessons some lesson.

Deliciously decorated cookies

27th April 2020 By Admin Linda

The lovely Seascape kitchen staff made some extra cookies for the children in school today.

After lunch, the children had a go at mixing their own icing and choosing what sweets to put on their cookies to decorate them. They looked and smelled delicious!

Sadly, there weren’t any cookies left for the staff to eat!

I wonder if their families will get any of them when they get home!?!

The trees with faces on them

23rd April 2020 By Admin Linda

The children in school this week have been getting creative by making faces on the trees behind the MUGA.

The faces were made using salt dough and then decorated with different objects; such as glass pebbles, dandelions, sticks, leaves and stones.

Aren’t they wonderful?

Ssshhh! The fairies have come to Seascape

23rd April 2020 By Admin Linda

The children in school this week have discovered that fairies have come to Seascape. They’ve started to build homes in the trees down near the story chair (behind the MUGA).

The children have been helping the fairies paint their new houses.
If more fairies arrive at Seascape, then even more houses will be needed!
We are wondering how many more might decide to come and live in the grass and trees by the story chair. Perhaps they’ll still be here when school returns!

Fantastic Teamwork

23rd March 2020 By Admin Linda

For most children at Seascape, school is currently closed, but the children of Key Workers have been having lots of fun today. This afternoon, the children were each given a colour from the rainbow and had to find objects all around school to create the rainbow.

They were really resourceful and managed to find lots of amazing objects to create the rainbow. We all had lots of fun and managed to get some fresh air too!

UKS2 visit the Discovery Museum

11th March 2020 By Admin Linda

On 5th December 2019, Year 5 and Year 6 went to the Discovery Museum in Newcastle.

To begin the adventure the children travelled by bus across the River Wear and the River Tyne.

The Discovery Museum is a beautiful old building, filled with lots of interesting exhibits.  Whilst at the museum, the children had loots of hands-on activities that helped them learn more about cogs, mirrors, shadows and circuits.
